How to work out profit on a bundle sale

One buyer, one price, several items. Splitting that single number back into per-item profit trips up more resellers than the buying side does.

Four items sell together for $60. You paid different amounts for each, so $60 split evenly, $15 an item, isn't right. Same mistake as the buying side, just facing the other direction.

Split the sale price by what each item is worth, its cost, not an even share. The item that cost you $30 should carry more of that $60 than the one that cost $4.

$60 for four items, cost $50 combined

Item A · cost $30
$36.00
Item B · cost $10
$12.00
Item C · cost $4
$4.80
Item D · cost $6
$7.20

Each item's share = its cost ÷ $50 total cost × $60 sale price.

The platform fee splits the same way, proportional to what each item earned. Shipping splits evenly instead: it's one box for the whole bundle, so it costs about the same to pack the item that cost $4 as the one that cost $30.

This is exactly where people just eyeball it, four items out of five hundred, a buyer waiting on a reply, no time to do the math by hand. More on working out real profit.

Get the split right and it pays off past that one sale. Accurate profit, item by item, shows you which items are actually worth buying more of, and that helps you source better next trip.

Type the offer once. See the split.

Add the items to one sale in ItemLogue and it splits the price, fee and shipping across them.
